Interactions between celebrex(celecoxib) and Pimozide (pimozide)
pimozide and celecoxib (Major Drug-Drug)
CONTRAINDICATED: According to its manufacturer, coadministration with drugs that are inhibitors of CYP450 2D6 may theoretically increase the plasma concentrations of pimozide, which may be partially metabolized by this isoenzyme. The use of pimozide has been associated with dose-related prolongation of the QT interval, thus elevated plasma levels of the drug may potentiate the risk of ventricular arrhythmias such as ventricular tachycardia and torsades de pointes as well as cardiac arrest and sudden death. Clinical data have not been reported.
MANAGEMENT: The manufacturer considers the use of pimozide with CYP450 2D6 inhibitors to be contraindicated.
